Pippa Pop-ins Sports Day for Dragonflies and Transition
Friday 8th July 2022
Timings
Due to logistical reasons, we do ask that Children who attend Nursery on a Friday are collected after lunch at the slightly earlier time of 12.15pm and are taken, by you, to Sports Day.
The gates will open at 1.15pm and our races will begin at 1.30pm finishing at approximately 2.30pm. We ask for Parents and Children to arrive in good time prior to the races starting, as unfortunately we are unable to wait for late arrivals.
Following the races, we will have Light Refreshments, which we do hope you will stay for.
Tiddly Pops
The Nurseries will remain open all day for Tiddly Pops Children, however, Parents with Children in these classes are more than welcome to bring them to watch the races and join the celebration. If you would like to attend, please kindly RSVP following the instruction below.
Dragonflies & Transition
Please kindly note that the Nurseries will be closed from 12.15pm for the rest of the day for Children in Dragonflies and Transition.
Schools Office
Please be advised that the Schools Office will be running a ‘skeleton shift’ on Sports Day as we will be setting up the event from 7am. Please therefore keep this letter as a reference for the day. Additionally, all information will also be available on our website www.pippapopins.com/sports-day/
Sports Day Pack
Your Sports Day pack will be sent home with your child prior to Sports Day. The pack will contain 2 wristbands for Parents (which you will need for your entry to Sports Day), and a t-shirt for your child. All children should arrive wearing their Sports Day t-shirt, white shorts, sports shoes (no laces) and sun cream.
Wristbands & Security
Wristbands will be sent home in the Sports Day Pack. There are 2 per family and must be warn at all times during the event. Please note these wristbands can only be used once, so should not be worn prior to the day!
If wristbands are lost or forgotten, replacements will be available on the day for a donation of £20.00 to our chosen charity.
As usual we will have security in place throughout the event, so we do ask parents to wear their wristbands throughout the afternoon. If you are not wearing your wristbands, you will be asked to present identification at the entrance to Sports Day and request a wristband (please see above). We kindly ask for your cooperation, as we have to be especially vigilant on the day.
Once you enter the Sports Day area, you will be greeted by one of the Teachers who will take your Child into the marquees. Parents are NOT to enter the marquees at any time.
We do hope that all of the children are able to race, however some Children may find the experience a little overwhelming and may not race. If your Child is very upset, we may make the decision for them not to run and they will then be reunited with you. If any parent asks a teacher to be reunited with their child, the child can watch the rest of the races with their parents.
Please note that children should only take part in Sports Day if they are fit and well.
Location
Sports Day will take place in a secured area in South Park. South Park is located between the New King’s Road and Wandsworth Bridge Road in Fulham. South Park has entrances on Hugon Road, Clancarty Road, Peterborough Road and Woolneigh Street.
Our Sports Day area will be located between Woolneigh Street and Hugon Road. Please see the area marked on the map below.
The easiest way to travel to South Park is by public transport. It is located within a 10 minutes’ walk from the New King’s Road and 15 minutes from Parsons Green underground, which is served by the District line. Alternatively, there is pay and display parking on the roads surrounding the park.
The postcode for the event is SW6 3ER.
Collecting your Child after the Races
Children are to remain with their Teacher until the end of all the races. Following the races, an organised and safe collection of the Children will begin. We ask you to wait until all the Children have completed their races before collecting your Child. Please do not take your Child without notifying their teacher. As you are aware, South Park is open to the public and although strict security measures will be in place, we ask parents to be attentive at all times.
Loos
Portaloos will be located behind the marquees within the Sports Day enclosure.
Mothers’ & Fathers’ Races
After the Children’s races, we will be holding our annual Parents’ races. We do hope you will participate!
RSVP
We kindly ask that you RSVP to the event via this link by Thursday 30th June.
Weather
Sports Day will continue even with light rain, however, if the weather conditions become really poor, Sports Day will have to be cancelled and Parents will be informed as soon as possible. If the weather is hot, we ask you to bring lots of water with you. Water will be provided for the children in the marquees when they are with us.
We are very much looking forward to the day and we hope the Dragonflies and Transition Children enjoy taking part in the event.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us the schools office.
